For a very new program, there were some great performances by the girls at the State Swim at BU.  Freshmen Halpin and Dobrindt led the way.  See below for scores.  Click here for full results.

Swim Team State Championship Results

The Milton Swim Team competed in the Massachusetts Girls State Division 2 Swimming and Diving Championships yesterday at Boston University.  In only the second year with Swim as a varsity sport, the girls did very well, and there is a lot of potential in this group.

Adley, Dobrindt, Haley, and Halpin All Earn Points At the Girls Central/South Swimming Sectionals

Out of 40 teams competing – over 120 swimmers – Maia Adley, Emily Dobrindt, Margaret Haley, and Amalia Halpin finished in the top half, lead by great performances from Dobrindt and Halpin in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard back.  Dobrindt grabbed 5 points in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing 12th, just .05 seconds in front of teammate Halpin.  Halpin would grab 7th place for the fly as well.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the girls took 14th.  The team is comprised of 3 freshmen and 1 senior – Adley – and is the youngest team to finish in the top 20. There were no other relay teams ahead of them in the 200 yard freestyle race with more than 1 freshman in the group. UPDATE: The girls qualified for states in the 200 and 400 free relay.  They will be competing this Saturday at BU for States.  Good luck Girls!

Four swimmers qualify for sectionals at MIT

The Milton High Swim showed well last weekend, with four girls qualifying for sectionals this upcoming weekend.  Emily Dobrindt finished 10th in the mixed 500 yard freestyle, earning her qualification this weekend.  Amalia Halpin cracked the top-20 in the mixed 200 yard individual medley, while Grace Curran and Isabelle Neville also finished strong.

The following girls are competing in sectionals this weekend;
Maia Adley, 200, 400 freestyle relay
Emily Dobrindt, 100 fly, 100 bk, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Margaret Haley, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay
Amalia Halpin, 100 fly, 100 bk, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay.

The Girls Central/South Sectional Meet is Saturday, February 11th, 4:15pm at MIT.  Good luck to those participating!

Swim loses to Needham

The Rockets won by a score of 92-72.

They swam exceptionally well against an all male team.  Emily Dobrindt won the 200 and 500 free.  Amalia Halpin won the 100 butterfly and Maia Adley pulled off a very impressive win by ½ second.  Maggie Haley, Alex Rene, Amalia Halpin and Emily Dobrindt won a place to swim at Sectionals in the 200 Free Relay.  The team swam hard, strong and together to have a great night.

Norwell downs Milton Swim Team

The Wildcats Swim Team fell to 0-2 on the season after a 97-69 defeat to Norwell to end 2016.  Emily Dobrindt won the 200 Free, placing 2nd with a sectional cut in the 100 fly and won the 500 free. Amalia Halpin finished 2nd in the 200 IM, and got a sectional cut and won the 100 back. In the 400 free relay, Maia Adley, Emily Dobrindt, Amalia Halpin and Maggie Haley won the race and became the first relay team in the history of Milton Swimming to make a sectional cut. Congrats Girls!

Their next meet will take place in the new year, on Thursday, January 5th at home vs Needham.
