On March 10th, 11th and 12th, members of the Milton High School Boys and Girls Indoor Track teams travelled to New York City to compete in the New Balance National Indoor Championships. We are thrilled to announce that two of the girls relay teams earned top four finishes, which makes them All Americans! Congratulations to the 4×1 mile relay team of Elise O’Leary, Ella Affanato, Colette O’Leary and Bridget Mitchell, who placed 2nd in the nation; and to the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) of Colette O’Leary, Josie Cousineau, Elise O’Leary and Bridget Mitchell, which placed 4th in the nation and set a school record. Here is a link to the DMR video. Milton Girls are wearing black tank tops and red shorts.
We also have a video of the Girls race. 4×1 mile, which means each Milton girl had to run one mile, for a total of four miles. This was a hard-fought race with lots of lead changes and incredible hard work by the Milton girls to work their way into their eventual second place finish. Amazing! They now have the second-fastest time the US!! Milton Girls are wearing black tank tops and red shorts
At this same meet, Jessy Iwuala tied the school record and won Bronze in the Emerging Elite division of high jump. Congratulations, Jessy!
Sophomore Smith Charles competed in the finals of the 60 meter dash. Here is a link to the video of his race. He is wearing all white in the far lane. Smith got 8th place in the nation! He also earned 10th place at Nationals in long jump.
Finally, Milton Girls also sent a 4×800 relay team to Nationals. Here is the video of the race.. For all four girls on this relay, this was their first trip to Nationals. They are all underclassmen and represented Milton very well and had a personal best. Congratulations to Genevieve Connelly, Eliza O’Donnell, Josie Cousineau and Ella Affanato.
Thank you to M. Downes for this wonderful recap!
