Girls Basketball lost to Dedham 46-44. Dedham shot the 3 ball well in the first half, as did Megan Bernardi, who finished with 12 points. The Wildcats were loose in possession at times and suffered from too many mistakes. After the break, Milton still found it tough guarding Dedham’s point guard, Vasquez, who ended the game with 19 points. With 1:30 left in the 3rd quarter, Joanna Needham stepped up and took a charge which helped switch the momentum. With 5 minutes left in the game, Shannon Middleton found Danielle Needham for a bucket and the foul. She missed the ensuing free throw, but grabbed the rebound and found Lucy Crawford in the corner for a big 3-pointer. After a little back-and-forth play, Dedham would eventually prevail 46-44 after a few questionable calls from the officials. Telling stat – after coming off a 11-14 game from the free throw line, Milton went 8-18 from behind the line. There was no lack of effort from Milton (4-6), however, who will look to bounce back next week against Weymouth.
The Boys beat the Marauders 79-71 at Dedham with Coach Phelan at the helm. They improve to 5-4.
