Girls Hockey edges out Walpole in heated contest

Girls Hockey were battled tested in last night’s contest, but rallied together and came out winners.  Walpole grabbed the first goal when several Rebels poked in an alleged loose puck under goaltender Mary O’Connell.  The game intensity escalated quickly and never let down.  After overcoming some questionable officiating, the Wildcats finally broke through with a breakaway goal from Elena Kapolis, assisted by Adrienne Shea and Katie Abbott.  The Wildcats then dominated the game, hitting the post on three different occasions. Entering the third period all square at 1, Katie Abbott once again found Elena Kapolis on a breakaway, scoring what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.  Milton played shorthanded for most of the last 5 minutes, seeing out a crucial win to put them level with Walpole atop the Herget Division.  Along with Kapolis scoring twice and Abbot grabbing two assists, Coach Dwan said it was a great defensive effort by Shea, Sullivan, Calcagno, and Bligh. Congrats also to sophomore O’Connell for allowing just the one goal. This brings the Wildcats to an impressive 5-1-1 start to the season.

Their next game is next Wednesday, HOME vs Framingham at 7:00pm.
