Boys Basketball beats Newton North for 1st time in 20 years

The Boys Basketball team showed their resilience as they beat Newton North 65-63 after trailing for much of the game.  Milton capitalized on some poor shooting from the Tigers early in the game, as well as some solid defensive work from Senior Captains Ethan Walko and Sam Ferrara.  With 6 seconds left in the half, down by 4, Senior Owen Keaney drilled a buzzer-beating 3 to pull Milton within 1 going into halftime.  In the 3rd quarter, Freshman Earl Tucker, who finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists, played excellent on both sides of the ball while Junior Eddie Hassell owned the paint to keep the Wildcats in the game.

With under 40 seconds to play in the game, Tucker drove hard to the rim and finished, and Aidan Johnson stole the ensuing inbound pass, laying it up with a little English to tie the game.  Christian Reddick then showed why he’s a Captain with a steal and tough finish through traffic to give the Wildcats the lead with 3.6 seconds to play, leaving no time for the Tigers to get a shot off.  Milton improves to 2-0 to start the season.  Their next game is @ Natick High School on Tuesday, 12/20, 6:30pm.
